I was a surprised as you are.

“A what??”

I just couldn’t believe my ears.

And so I had to go see for myself!

And it’s true.

An incredible dining experience, that is second to none in the UAE.

In fact, it’s a must-try.

I’ll try explain, but this really requires your own visit to truly understand the amazement.

So, in an arm of the Ajman Museum, which was the ruler’s fort until the 1970’s, after which it was preserved and presented to the public – and which makes for a very interesting day trip on its own merit, due to the numerous artefacts and restored buildings – someone has built a replica of a bonafide medieval castle interior…

A historical reminder that Medieval times in Europe began with the fall of the Roman Empire around the 5th century and transitioned into the Renaissance and the Age of Discovery until the 15th.

This was the era of fortified castles, knights and dragons – and at Viking Restaurant you will be transported into its heart and soul.

It’s not a gimmick – the restauration work is sincere and the effect is incredible.

And it’s a restaurant, with exceptional food, that would stand on its own even if it weren’t hosted within a Viking fortress!

I just couldn’t believe my eyes, and the experience is one of awe and wonder.

Upstairs, another level of feast dining…

And then, incredibly, the sound of ancient music reached my ears…

A group of musicians dedicated to medieval songs appeared!

They played professionally, melodies from 1,000 years ago, recreated live to the delight of honored guests at Viking Restaurant.

I’ll try not to spoil the surprise, but as a hint of what you can look forward to…

But let’s not get sidetracked by fiery Medieval dancers – we did say “restaurant” and “fine-dining”…

Well, I’m happy to report that in both arenas the experience was marvelous indeed!

Viking Restaurant presents a number of menu options, all themed on medieval feasts, and the results were excellent.

A creative selection of starters offered meat, seafood, and plant harvest options – and all were curated with excellence, expertly prepared, and served at the table with medieval flair!

The ambience is magical, and you will feel part of the Vikings – it is so well arranged that the illusion passes the boundaries into reality, and for that evening you are indeed dining in the olde times.

The atmosphere, the tableware, the cutlery, the entertainment, the service… all are in theme and working together perfectly.

You are even presented with a choice of knives for your mains!

And with a juicy T-bone steak, cooked precisely to your preference, your selection of weapon – errr, I mean knife – will be put to good use!

The Chef is Italian, Chef Antonino, from Sicily, and the dishes are tasty and prepared to a very high standard.

For mains you will have a selection of beef (the T-bone for me! Arrr, Viking!!!), or fish, or vegetarian.

Worthy of a highlight are the mocktails…

… a splendid seafood bisque soup… (spicy, if you like)..

…and supremely delicious desserts!

Overall, Viking Restaurant in Ajman is a must for the discerning foodie in UAE – besides time-traveling into the era of Vikings, the dining options are excellent, and with the accompanying performances, an unforgettable evening of trendy Instagram posts is guaranteed to marvel your friends!
