The olives, Kalamata, are not only hand-picked to avoid bruising, but originate from the southern Peleponnese, a region around the city of Kalamata, and they grow to even twice the size of regular green olives – and then at Mythos they are further marinated in herbs and spices, to bring forward a bouquet of aromas second to none!

The bread is freshly baked on the premises, soft and airy, but with a superb crunchy crust – and the chilled beer is a Greek lager, by chance proudly carrying the same name as the restaurant.

And the ambience is simply lovely.

Embraced by an indoor / outdoor choice, Mythos can go from a laid-back relaxed vibe to an elegant dining option at the drop of a hat; and the team is both friendly and professional, ably led by Mr Aditya.

And the clever way Mythos Kouzina & Grill is situated, within a labrynth of high fencing, with a green pathway and bicycle path just outside, snaking among the tall buildings of JLT, really transports you far away, to an imaginary visit to Greece.

It’s hard to believe the restaurant is located right behind this building!

But it is the food that carries you away at Mythos…

Quality ingredients from the motherland, and the careful preparation of time-honored recipes make dining at Mythos special.

The salad above, for instance, is just bursting with healthy fresh vegetables, and also exceptionally flavored with Greek olive oil and vinegar, herbs, olives, and a superlative Feta cheese – aged in brine – and yes, directly from Greece, and nothing like what you may find locally in UAE.

Taste and believe.

Indeed, many original Greek products used in the kitchens at Mythos, are available to you as well.

Dishes in general are elegant and refined, but still maintaining the honest simplicity of someone who has trust in the quality of the ingredients – so there are no heavy sauces that mask the principal food; rather, natural herbs and vegetable purees are utilized to accompany and exalt the true spirit of the dish.

Case in point, below, a marvelous rendition of grilled octopus – simply prepared for tenderness and then grilled over live fire to bring out the smokey flavors and crispy textures.

But then it is paired with a tasty tomato base – which was sweet and tangy, a masterpiece on its own – and a dollop of blended pickled capers, adding a pleasant sour and salty kick – as well as portion of fava bean puree and a sprinkling of toasted sesame seeds, which provided the umami genius touch!

And the resulting combination on the plate, and indeed the palate, is a full five stars dish!

This winning approach is I think the real success of the magnificent dishes presented at Mythos.

Besides the artful combinations of textures and flavors, including bitters, and majestic charring over charcoal, the coffee and desserts are equally satisfying – also authentically Greek, also prepared with top quality ingredients and loving care.
