The BIG GRILL 2014, a unique food and music event and a part of the inaugural Dubai Food Festival, delivered a one day food and music gala from 2pm to late.
The Emirates Golf Club provided the venue, SunDanceLIVE brought in the music, and the The BIG GRILL celebrated everything BBQ amidst live performances from world-class artists and local DJs as well as a children’s entertainment area.
It is hard work to keep the grills going full speed.
From flaming BBQs to gourmet steaks and regional kebabs, Chef Jeffrey Brothers, Executive Sous Chef of Emirates Golf Club, lead a team of top-notch chefs to serve a selection of global tastes.
And they did so with style as well as flavor – does a selection of Juniper and Red Wine Marinated Venison Loin, Wagyu Filet with CafĂ© de Paris Butter, and Grilled Scallops with Pineapple and Cucumber Salsa catch your fancy?
Ready for the thousands of visitors, side dishes of potatoes, corn, beans and tomatoes kept rolling out to accompany beef, lamb, fish, chicken, sausages, and even pork.
And the sauces were fabulous!
The kids especially enjoyed the children’s area.
When you see children chewing on ribs like cavemen with both hands, you know it’s good!
And in the kids’ zone, little BBQ grills were set up for your own live cooking.
As the sun set, and the little ones went home, the atmosphere changed towards party-time!
The Emirates Golf Club is a spectacular venue for evening events.
And the crowd got ready for No Mercy and Diana King, the opening acts for UB40.
Audience participation was full-on!
And then a funny, weird, and even miraculous thing happened.
As Marty Cintron of No Mercy opened with “Missing”, belting out the lyrics “I miss you, as the deserts miss the rain”…
… rain started falling in light, tender droplets!
He, and the audience as one, looked up in wonder, and then spurred on by this momentous occasion, the party really took off!!!
If you missed this year’s The Big Grill, then there’s always next year, and in the meantime console yourself with this UB40 video playlist of their hits:
