Talk of a fantastic location for a brand-new four-star hotel in Dubai!
Hyatt Place Dubai / Jumeirah has nailed it not only in this regard – basically you can reach any corner of Dubai easily and within minutes! – but also the property itself presents a very clever balance between the comfort and service one can expect from a luxury hotel, at an affordable price point.
Make no mistake, this is a purebred from the Hyatt family, and this professionalism shows through in so many ways – you see, the affordable-but-deluxe category of hotels in Dubai is still developing, with many of the smaller independent operators falling short of the fourth star and actually delivering a cheap but sub-standard experience.
Hence the power of a hotel group that carries 777 hotels in 54 countries!
You can be assured that Hyatt Place Dubai / Jumeirah delivers above that fourth star in all regards, while at the same time not reaching into the price range of the full-blown five-stars.
I mean, look at the thickness of that mattress!
And as you progress through your stay, you realize that nothing is missing, and everything you need is provided.
And it is elegant, suitable for both business meetings as well as family staycations.
Think of it this way – you come as a visitor to Dubai, the city famed for its super shopping malls (Dubai Mall is a 5-minute drive, by the way) – would you rather have an extra 500 in your pocket for an extra little purchase, or lose that on a hotel room that in practice offers nothing more than the Hyatt Place Dubai, except, perhaps a peacock statue in a fountain in the lobby?
And the food options are excellent, as well as simple.
The main all-day dining restaurant serves a full buffet breakfast, as well as a live station to suit your preferences.
And a full-service bar is at your service, if so desired.
But the culinary surprise of our stay at Hyatt Place Dubai / Jumeirah was the Wox, a stand-alone pan-Asian restaurant – allow me to explain:
“Chinese” or “Asian” food outlets are popping up in Dubai everywhere, thinking that slopping a few fast-cooked noodles into a bowl is all it takes – obviously this isn’t so, and this belittles the world’s most populous continent, representing 49 countries and thousands of cultures, languages, and, yes, cuisines.
I must admit I was initially suspicious at the Wox… but it was in fact totally authentic and exceptional!
Hyatt Place Dubai / Jumeirah did not come into this unprepared, and they made sure the quality of the food matched the quality of the mattresses – what else is needed once your sleep and food is perfect?
At the Wox, Chef Dewa is Indonesian, and in his fully-equipped high-heat wok-style cooking station, he delivered a lovely meal, far above expectations.
In fact, I’ll go even further – I would say that the Wox is so good that it deserves a visit regardless of the hotel stay.
Sure, as a hotel guest it’s easy to recommend dinner at the same hotel’s outlet, but know that the Wox has the potential to bring in both Dubai residents and also guests from neighboring hotels!
Overall, the only reason I would select another hotel for my visit to Dubai would be if the Hyatt Place Dubai / Jumeirah were fully-booked…
This is probably Dubai’s best four-star hotel at this time, period.
