Branded as an American Restaurant, Secret is a little tucked away off the main road, but it is a jewel that needs discovering – and the ample available parking make up for it.

And as the chalkboard and The Beatles say: Love is the Answer.

I think this motto explains a lot about why Secret was so good.

You see, it’s a small place – cozy, and humble – and yet the kitchen and the table service delivers above what you’d expect.

This is the kind of place you keep coming back to, because you feel comfortable – your home away from home.

The kind of place where your waiter knows your name, and greets you at the door, like a good friend is visiting.

And they serve the best smoothies ever!

But not only – let’s start from the beginning: breakfast!

Early or late, Secret’s Eggs Benedict and a good coffee will kickstart your day – they also serve Arabian Shakshuka if you prefer.

It’s simple, honest food – but look closely… see any cooking oil? Nope – carefully drained and removed before plating.

Check any other Eggs Ben with sautéed mushrooms on the side, and tell me if they take the same care – you’ll be surprised.

See the tomato? Look how the skin is peeled back – that’s great temperature control. And the mushrooms? Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside.

I know these are small details – but I’m pointing them out because they mean something: they mean that no matter whether you’re in a corner bistro or an expensive restaurant, it is the love from the people who prepare your food that makes the difference.

And that’s no secret at Secret!

We tried two kinds of fries: Sweet Potato, and Load ‘Em Up with thick curly fries, and connected those to their Classic All-American Cheese Burger sliders.

Black Angus beef to start off with – a quality patty, nice – melted cheddar, sliced tomato and onion, shredded lettuce – crisp and fresh – pickles, and Secret’s signature sauce – brilliant!

And overall Secret is a pleasant place, with a positive vibe about it.

Nice full-front window lets in plenty of natural light, and the interior design is simple and uncluttered – and impeccably clean.

And they do delivery and take-away.
