The Blue Elephant is located in the Al Bustan Rotana Dubai Hotel, near the airport, but it is not quite your usual, regular hotel food outlet…
Well, see for yourself!
When we entered the Blue Elephant we were transported a million miles away from bustling Dubai!
The decorations are tasteful and produce a simply stunning effect.
And I think best of all was the very clever juxtaposition of powerful, fiery, dynamic artistic enclaves opposed by tranquil, meditative, gentle corners – as far as striking a Fung Shui balance between Ying and Yang, the decor team at the Blue Elephant have exceeded themselves.
Perhaps this is Dubai’s most powerful restaurant in this regard.
Most people won’t notice, possibly, but they will certainly feel “the vibes” – we sat by the water canal, next to a wooden arch bridge, and were entertained by large Koi fish gently breaking the surface to smile at us, and the atmosphere was so relaxing we didn’t want to leave and chit-chatted well beyond dessert.
Ah, the food!
With selections from Thailand to Japan, the Asian Brunch at the Blue Elephant is highlighted by an impressive and extensive buffet showcasing original cuisines from different parts of Asia, where you can enjoy a wide range of unlimited Dim Sum, Buns, Sushi, Shabu Shabu, Noodle Bar and Tempuras, as well as a smorgasbord of fantastic Asian sweets made from sago, coconut and water chestnut!
Our knowledgeable guide was Chef Ittiwarakon from Thailand – “Call me Pee Tu” – and his passion for sharing the authentic tastes of Asia is contagious! His every advice was golden.
From simple to the more complex, the selection was astounding, and the quality in both flavor and preparation was excellent.
Roasted Peking Duck, platters of famous dishes from Indonesia, Malaysia (Beef Rendang – fantastic!), India, China (sweet egg buns – light, soft and delicious!), Korea, Japan (sushi – masterful!), Vietnam, and Phillipines (the best dish of all, in my opinion, the Daing na Bangus – first time I’d tasted it and it blew me away!)
Here’s a homemade recipe for Daing na Bangus, if you wish to know more about this popular dish from the Phillipines.
Impeccably presented, the Blue Elephant took us on a culinary journey to Asia.
Five-star hotel quality control and management, a truly fantastic and intelligent decor and design, and definitely leading from the kitchen, the Blue Elephant is a top restaurant in Dubai.
