When we heard of a new special promotion menu by The Noodle House, we rushed there!
Not only does The Noodle House offer the chance to sample Taiwanese cuisine with this limited edition menu, only until 22 September 2018 – honestly, unless you travel to Taiwan, where else are you going to find the chance in UAE? – but I remember slurping down noodles at their restaurants at least 15 years ago!
And when my kids were young, any mention of going to The Noodle House was met with loud cheers of Yay!!!!
So, yes, I have a soft spot for The Noodle House… but it has been earned – and boy have they come a long way!
See how their decor is at BurJuman Center, on the food court floor:
Classy, hah?
But let’s go over the menu.
First, the usual a la carte.
It’s modern, it’s funky – they say they are the home of an entire continent’s soul food: fast, fresh, and real Asian soul food.
Basically, I love everything on their menu.
I could order blindfolded, pointing randomly, and I’d leave happy.
For instance, from the ‘Street Food’ section, how does Soft Shell Crab Bao sound?
Well, Chinese buns with crispy crab and lime sriracha mayonnaise don’t matter how they sound – it’s how awesome they taste!
And from the ‘Umami’ section of the menu, how about Lemongrass Sea Bass?
Green curry, fragrant galangal crust, and jasmine rice!
I would kill for that…
But let us focus on the limited edition menu:
It’s very to-the-point; only 4 items.
One is a drink…
Tasty! Jasmine tea is poured over crushed ice and bubbles of passion fruit.
Needs drinking fast, though, or the melting ice dilutes too much – if you want to sip, better go for the traditional tea.
But if you want to slam-dunk a jar of cool goodness, then look no further.
And the fourth is a dessert… a cheeky ice popsicle, with a marvelous salty kick – paired with little pineapple muffins, pastry ever so light and flaky, with a swirl of what seemed to be raspberry glaze and crushed roasted peanuts. It worked so well!
So really there are two Taiwanese street food items: the Rin Bing and the Jade Buddha Noodle Soup.
The Jade Buddha Noodle Soup is aromatic beef broth, heavy on the star anise, with rice noodles.
The beef slices are formidably prepared, and they contrast wonderfully with the very attractive lotus root – and every so often you bite into a shiitake mushroom, and the flavor explodes!
A fantastic noodle dish!
The vegetarian main is instead a modern wrap, with all sorts of thinly-sliced (julienned) fresh vegetables, with traces of chili paste, but very delicate.
Certainly a mouthful, this fresh take on salad will delight the health-conscious!
All in all, The Noodle House does well to launch these special menus every so often.
Because besides the regular menu favorites, so many Asian dishes remain unknown to so many. And even people living in Asia would probably not have the easy chance to taste delicacies from neighboring countries.
And so bring it on, The Noodle House!
Delight us more!
