Dubai is a city of many facets, just as the Tango can be superficially understood to be a dance of Argentinian origin – yet ask Enrique Macana, and your understanding expands to include an art form, and expression of culture, and even a representation of love.
Love in fluid motion
In fact, La Casa del Tango serves as the embassy of the tango in the UAE – it represents the art of tango and blends the electrifying on-stage experience with a degustation of the culinary culture of Argentina.
Situated in a cozy ground floor nook in DIFC, La Casa Del Tango offers a unique and masterful weekend brunch, as well as regular a la carte dining and a fully-stocked after-work bar lounge.
An elegant dining hall with elevated stage at one end and a traditional Argentinian live-fire grilling pyramid at the other, La Casa Del Tango is a marvelous example of the evolution of Dubai as a center of international fine-dining and entertainment.
Outdoor seating is also available.
But it is the indoor alcoves that best suit a private gathering of friends.
The tables are well-appointed, and the drinks are exceptional, with the house wines for the Arriba Brunch an Argento Malbec and a spectacular Zuccardi Serie A Torrontes!
You realize instantly that you are about to enjoy a delectable feast of epicurean proportion the moment the first delights arrive to your table.
A roasted onion salad is quite an unusual starter, at least in UAE, though the wonderful melt-in-your-mouth slow-cooked onion teased with its natural sweetness and played your taste buds with glee.
Empanadas are a humble and beloved appetizer or snack throughout Latin America, and popular also in the Philippines, among other places – but to elevate them to the light crispiness and flavorful fillings that the good chef at La Casa Del Tango achieved is a rare accomplishment!
These are five-star empanadas – try them and let me know…
As the dining experience progresses, live shows, including a DJ belting out modern latino music and a live boot-stomping Argentinian folk special show with drums and boleadoras – a favorite tool of the gaucho, the Argentinian cowboy, but surprisingly also spun in time to musical beats!
But the star of the show is undoubtedly the tango!
Enrique Macana, founder and director of La Casa Del Tango, is not only a virtuoso world-famous dancer but also heads the tango school in Dubai, which attracts UAE residents at all levels, from beginners to world champions.
Here is an example of Enrique in action with his brother:
Arriba Brunch continues, with three options of beverages, from non-alcoholic to sparkling.
And the famous Argentinian grilled meats take center-stage!
As well as regional specialties that you would normally need to fly into Buenos Aires to taste.
Finally the meal is crowned by delicious desserts, worthy of a spectacular meal at La Casa Del Tango!
And an exceptional coffee…
Overall a wonderful weekend brunch experience, with live tango performance – Dubai’s most exciting dance and dining experience from Argentina.
