Italy is well known for many reasons: the exquisite food and wine selection, the architectural beauties, fine beaches and the picturesque countryside, and the list goes on and on.

I can hear you say “yes, but this can be said for many other countries”, however Italy has something that not many countries have: the quantity of iconic luxury car manufacturers!

weekenduae had the opportunity to visit one of these in a private factory tour, welcome to Maserati!

Maserati has two factories in Italy, and weekenduae visited the original factory in Modena. Combined to the visit there is a temporary treat for all car enthusiasts which we could not miss and we highly recommend it to our readers, but first let me share with you what I think is one of the best representations of Italian sportscar quality.

The first thing that impressed was the working environment within the factory: genuine smiling faces, and even though the assembly line runs on a tight schedule, it appeared to be a focused and stress-free job. The ergonomics of each assembly station are customizable helping the assembly “artists” in their work.

Transmission and engines come directly from Ferrari.

Maserati subcontract local artisans who make state-of-the-art components that then are assembled in the factory.

After the final quality control, Maserati doesn’t take any chances and has every car checked by an external independent quality control company, which has the final approval before delivery.

To be honest, I would willingly work in the factory just to hear the 8 cylinder symphony emitted when the cars are driven off the production line!

Maserati have recently inaugurated the Maserati Centennial exhibition “Maserati 100 – A Century of Pure Italian Luxury Sport Cars”.

If you are travelling to Italy you really cannot afford to miss it as they have gathered some of the most iconic and rare historical cars, and it is considered the greatest exhibition of Maserati cars ever staged anywhere in the world!

Car enthusiasts will definitely recognize these unique glorious cars which represent the enthralling design and innovative development throughout the many successful racing years of Maserati.

The Maserati Centennial is a temporary exhibition which is held at the MEF (Museo Enzo Ferrari, yes you heard correctly) in Modena and together there is the opportunity also to see some rare Ferrari automobiles. What else can you ask for: two of the most famous and luxurious motor brands in one visit, an opportunity you cannot miss.

But hurry, the exhibition lasts until January 2015.
