Akiba Dori is a hip and cool concept, straight out of the funky part of Japan, and perfectly fitting the avant-garde side of new Dubai.
An integral part of Dubai Design District, and their choice work-lunch place, Akiba Dori is a dinner destination for an evening out with friends who want to try somewhere new and unique.
A nifty combination of several different designs, the concept is to reproduce a Japanese downtown backstreet, complete with its niche food stalls and restaurants.
The impression is of several restaurants combined into one, although the menu is one and only – and at the head of the restaurant area, an impressive pizza oven!
Designed, perfected, and then imported from Japan, this award-winning behemoth of a cast-iron structure assures pizza-baking excellence!
In fact, Akiba Dori is famous for its pizza.
With all ingredients imported from Italy, except the flour and salt, which are brought in from Japan, the Margherita boasts an excellent tomato sauce, and a spongy Italian-style dough.
Also, some creative Japanese-style pizza favorites are on offer, like the beef pepperoni and pumpkin puree below.
It is Tokyo-style Neapolitan pizza.
The atmosphere is young and colorful…
And the decorations are cute and inspired by anime.
But it is the Japanese street food that brings the place alive!
And the desserts are fantastic!
Above the ultra-decadent (but not too sweet) Matcha Molten Cake, and below the equally delicious Lotus Cheesecake.
And to close with another Italian favorite that Japan has adopted as one of their own: a splendid coffee – the espresso macchiato.
So for a special treat with the in-crowd, arrange to fill a table with friends one evening – who is hip is hip!
Or maybe drop in for a quiet snack with someone special…
Either way, Akiba Dori is the new hot thing in town!
