Since the invention of the pneumatic tyre, Pirelli has been at the forefront of development and production.
The process of vulcanisation must have been based on the creativity of the ancient Roman god Vulcan, after whom volcanoes are named… and not to be confused with the Star Trek Vulcans!
And Pirelli has been helping race cars win since the very start, as is seen here in the Mille Miglia of 1955.
Nowadays Pirelli continues to manufacture winning tyres.
And they are used in most of the important races, such as Formula 1,
and the Ferrari Challenge,
and the Lamborghini Super Trofeo,
and the Maserati Trofeo,
and the World Rally Championship,
Well, basically, it’s hard to find a world-class racer that does not run Pirelli tyres!!!
And the same can be said for two-wheelers.
However, on the motorcycle front, despite the fact that Pirelli also supports the World Superbike Championship and the Motocross World Championship, unfortunately, in the UAE I could not find the tyres I wanted!
The Pirelli Rallycross MT-21… designed specifically for desert terrain!
I guess that sometimes finding the right tyre and size can be a challenge in the UAE, so it’s best to prepare for your next tyre change early.
So instead I mounted the Pirelli Scorpion ATR all-terrain tyres and will report back my impressions and experience as the kilometres add up.

The Pirelli dealer in Dubai is Al-Hawai Tyre Co. and as of now I can report their installation at the Al Quoz “Pirelli Tyre Clinic” was extremely professional, with balancing and laser alignment.
I will update this review when I have run in the Scorpion ATR and perhaps installed the Rallycross MT-21, so check back in a few months time for my impressions from real-life use!
UPDATE: While the momentum of the article has passed, my satisfaction with the Pirelli Scorpion ATR is with me every day I drive – excellent mileage, with extremely low and even wear thanks to the quality rubber compound: one of the best tyres for UAE conditions, no doubt.
