A beautifully themed restaurant, Zorba presents a Greek atmosphere at Century Village in Dubai.
Where Adonis smiles as you enter
The restaurant offers both an interior dining hall, with stately tablecloths and furnishings; and an outdoors terrace, with a more casual al fresco style of enjoying Greek food.
Zorba is fully licensed, should you feel like accompanying your meal so.
The meal starts with delicious dips:
With a selection of a fresh Tzatziki, which is yogurt, cucumber, garlic, and herbs; a roasted eggplant dip called Melitzanosalata, with light chillies and garlic; and a superb Tirokafteri, a hummussy feta cheese puree with red peppers – and of course flat pita bread!
The surprise of the day was the soup, which was a thick beef broth and onions – with potatoes and lovely little beef cubes!
While we were expecting seafood as a stereotypical Greek meal, in fact it seems that Zorba’s strength is beef.
The soup was delicious!
And to assure the potato cubes were cooked just right, they were prepared separately and added to the soup just before serving.
Following the soup, we tried a baked eggplant in slices with thick tomato sauce and feta cheese,
and a very creamy Caesar Salad with Parmesan curls.
A generous portion of chicken Gyros followed.
The crispy chicken was well done, and also very tasty.
For dessert, a lovely cream tart was served to the table, with coffee.
A clever and strategic sprinkling of icing sugar added a nice decorative touch.
And so, for a Greek tavern dining experience, Zorba offers an excellent downtown location as part of a large open garden courtyard at Century Village, and the opportunity to sample a vacation to Greece without actually leaving Dubai!
