After months of coronavirus at home we were bursting for a break – a change of venue – a little adventure… hello staycation at the Dusit Thani!

Knowing the ethos of the good folk at the Dusit, we figured that they would take exceedingly good care of us, and we were right – even though you can expect a smooth and luxurious service at any five-star hotel, the Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi really put on their thinking cap during these difficult times and delivered above and beyond their usual level of excellence.

The spacing and logistical organization that has gone into adapting the normally fluid hotel operations has taken each individual guest’s stay into the realm of personalized attention that only world-stage VIPs could expect – I mean, if the Dusit people could send a helicopter to pick you up at home, they would earnestly do that.

And it’s such a fantastic city venue!

The spaciousness of the impressive lobby was exalted with due precautions of social distancing, and we felt completely safe – not only with the extra sanitizing, but with the reinvention of the hotel check-in processes, from the moment you arrive at the bell hop, to the presentation of your room, all the way through dinner and breakfast, to your eventual checking out and departure.

But I still can’t get over that impressive lobby!

The room is as comfortable as always – perhaps even a little more, with extra love and appreciation for choosing to stay over…

Touches of class abound in the room, and all around the hotel premises.

And strolling around the hotel after a lovely dinner showcases the various nooks and crannies, as well as the enormous wedding ballroom and conference halls.

You may reserve the corner of your preference, to assure privacy.

And you’ll find the dining options to be excellent, and also adapted to current times with personalized service – for instance, at the breakfast buffet, an attendant will serve you according to your likes, saving you from having to touch anything. Very clever, and very thoughtful.

Overall, for a break from it all, just to re-boot and re-energize, a staycation at the Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi was wonderful in all regards.

In fact, I guess this could become a regular affair!
