A paradise tropical island, Zanzibar impresses with its white beaches and emerald waters, but also with an added dimension of a vibrant and friendly culture and a history worth exploring.
The most treasured beaches are snow-white with sand, in the north, and this is where one finds Kendwa Rocks!
Very convenient airport pick-up is available, and the resort takes full care of you upon arrival until send-off at the airport for departure.
Operating as a full beach resort and and as a day-pass for visitors from lesser hotels who want access to the superb beach, Kendwa Rocks offers both rooms and bungalows, a large beach-side restaurant, and a vibrant nightlife second to none on the island.
The rooms are decorated in different styles, and they surround the central swimming pool area, which gives onto the beach directly.
The resort is tranquil and unhurried, and the day goes by at the pace you determine.
Not far from Kendwa Rocks, many other resorts follow the coastline, and numerous diving, boating and safari tour companies operate.
Scuba diving was fantastic, and in fact Zanzibar is ranked as one of the top diving sites in the world. Kite boarding is popular, and so is wake boarding.
Everybody is friendly, and there is a sense of safety – clearly the beaches are carefully monitored because tourism is the main and seemingly only real source of income, and so the locals have a stake in making sure everyone has a good time and goes home to say so.
I felt completely comfortable sunbathing on Kendwa Rocks’ beachside day-beds, and not even the hawkers and sellers came up to disturb. Out on the open beach, a smile and a no thank-you was sufficient, and there was no insistence nor hassling.
And so, from the fabulous location of Kendwa Rocks, you can explore or stay pampered in your home away from home – Zanzibar island is truly tropical beach paradise, and Kendwa Rocks is the best location on the island.
